NEWS FLASH!!! After careful consideration, this year‘s Hockaway tournament will be held at 96th St. in Manhattan. So the East River isn’t quite the ocean — join us for a perfect fall day of camaraderie and healthy competition… in the city!

We look forward to seeing you (and hopefully a friend) the morning of Saturday, October 15th.  Enjoy a fun day of play, the ever popular raffle and an award presentation for all the glory! Registration is still open for a short bit. Thank you for participating in the fourth annual Hockaway!
It's always been a goal of WBHNYC to grow women's ball hockey, so for this year's Hock-away Tournament, we're encouraging players to sign up in pairs! Bring someone who's never participated before... reconnect with an old teammate... come if you've never come before!

SCHEDULE

Players must check-in at the desk 30 minutes before their game to sign a waiver and meet their teams. All teams must be ready to play 15min before their games. Schedule is subject to change as needed.
Players MUST wear a helmet (with working chin-strap) and full five fingered padded gloves. There are no exceptions. If you need to borrow equipment you must let us know in advance and will try to accommodate you. 
Raffle and distribution of champion shirts to follow immediately after the final.

What to bring:
  • Required: Full fingered padded gloves and helmet with working chin strap (cage/faceshield is optional).*
  • Hockey Stick
  • A black shirt and a white shirt (please do not bring a grey shirt)
  • Water & snacks
*If you do not have the required equipment, then please indicate your equipment needs on the registration form and we will try to take care of you!  Our goal is to get everyone into the game :)

Nearby Amenities:
There are bathrooms and a gas station with food/beverages right by the rink.

How to Get There:
The outdoor dek rink is located at 96E & 1ST Ave, Manhattan, NY and is accessible by subway (Q, 6, 4 lines) or bus. 

All players must review and abide by the tournament rules and  WBHNYC's Code of Conduct in order to participate.

Waiver & Covid Attestation 
All players must read, understand, and agree to the waiver in order to participate. Players will be asked to sign the waiver in person at check in before their first game. All players must complete an online covid attestation form (within 24 hours) of playing. 

Inclement weather policy:
In the chance of inclement weather, players will receive a tournament notification via email no later than 8am the day of (October 15, 2022).

​The 4th Annual Hockaway Beach Women's Ball Hockey Tournament usually takes place in Rockaway but this year has been moved to an outdoor dek rink next to the East River between 96 E & 1st Ave, Manhattan, NY.

This is a one day recreational draft tournament and fundraiser. The competition is played in a single division and open to all skill levels. Expect healthy competition, friendly and supportive atmosphere, and fun vibe. 

Registration
All players register as individuals but have the option to request to be placed on a team with one other person. Teams will be selected by a sub-group of Organizers to ensure that players of different expertise and experience levels are dispersed evenly, creating a balanced competition. Teams will be formed after registration closes. Players will be informed of tournament format and schedule closer to tournament date.
 
Raffle
We will be doing a "Mystery Prize" Raffle Fundraiser donated prizes from our sponsors. Check out some of last year's prizes here! 

All proceeds from the tournament and raffle, as well as all WBHNYC sanctioned events, go towards growing the women's game and empowering players in the sport.

Spots are limited, don't wait! Your spot is not confirmed until payment received. All players must agree to WBHNYC's Code of Conduct, sign the TOURNAMENT LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT in person at check-in, and complete an online covid attestation form ​(within 24 hours of playing) in order to participate in Hock-away Beach.

We’ll have plenty of water, sport drinks, and snacks to keep you hydrated and game ready. So grab your stick and slather on some sunscreen and get ready to make some waves at our 4th Annual Hock-away Beach Women’s Tournament.

*Players who request to be placed on a team as a pair must register by Oct. 8. 2022. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee group requests but will do our absolute best to accommodate you!
**Unable to pay the registration fee? No problem—simply select the “pay what you wish” option on the registration form and we’ll see you at the beach.
***Players must wear a helmet (with working chin strap) and full five fingered padded gloves in order to participate. We take player safety seriously and there are no exceptions. But our goal is to get everyone into the game; if you do not have the required equipment, please indicate your equipment needs on the registration form and we will try to take care of you! :)
