scrimmage rules

Scrimmages (sometimes referred to as "pick-up games" are open to all skill levels and the aim is for players to be able to share, learn and teach. Scrimmages are more about having fun, getting a sweat on, and trying new things, than playing at a high compete level.

  • Anything above the waist is a high stick. Keep sticks below the waist (including wind-ups and follow through).
  • Slap shots and stick lifts are allowed; but high stick rules apply (wind-ups and follow throughs must be kept below the waist).
  • Absolutely NO body checking - no exceptions.
  • Game formats may vary, 5x5 4x4 3x3, depending on location and numbers.
  • If in-game reiteration or adjustments  are needed, we’ll stop the game & review/explain.
  • Equipment: gloves and helmet are strongly recommended.
